This Is Great
LIVE 8
My goal today is to watch live 8 online, all day. Updates will come.
Highlights so far:
-Seeing A-ha again.
-Seeing Brian Wilson in Berlin, eventhough he forgot the lyrics to "God Only Knows"
-Bjork starting the whole thing is Tokyo.
-Paul McCartney with U2 doing Sgt. Peppers live for the first time.
-2:42 PM- The Scissor Sisters rock my socks!!!
-3:00 PM- Even if Velvet Revolver suck, Scott Weiland is one of the best front men in rock.
-3:13-Green Day- Covering "We are the Champions." This happened while I was sleeping, but what a great tribute to Live Aid in 85.
-3:23 PM - Sting playing "Message in a Bottle," kickin it 85 style again. I wonder if I watched LiveAid.
Lowlights:
-Audioslave butchering "Killing in the name of". The fact that they played this on this day boggles my mind.
-3:08 PM-Def Leppard- I'm sorry Joe Elliot, but you just dont have the voice anymore.
-3:13-Green Day- Covering "We Are the Champions." Leave that moment in time alone please.

unfortunately i didn't see a single ounce of footage of live 8, but i will throw my pesimism out there. first of all, we already know people in africa are starving. we further know that throwing money at it won't do a damn thing. seriously, all it does is make the continent dependent upon us. it is so easy to raise money, but the trick is finding those people and those methods necessary to make a change with the money and make africa into an EDUCATED continent instead of feeding all their citizens for a fucking WEEK. there is a reason they had to do the concert again, because the first time didn't fucking work. i can't comment on the music because i didn't see it, but greenday covering anything by anybody pisses me off especially after they ripped oasis' wonderwall with boulevard of broken dreams, which is so fucking OVER PLAYED!!!!!!!!!!!! angy LT signing off
wait a sec, are you saying that putting billions of dollars into the hands of corrupt, militant governments isn't effective in stopping poverty and/or aids? well fuck me running...
oh yeah, and i didn't ever notice boulevard was a ripoff, but i'm sure i'll hear it every time now.
let us now discuss a better way to spend money on africa --- Mercs. Shown to be terrifically effective in the early 90's could be spread like so much jelly across the continent for half the price of food and a quarter the curruption.
dude do you remember the arcade game MERCS? i used to drop so many tokens into that thing, it was so awesome.
There is an old saying that I think is appropriate for fixing the problem in Africa. "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and that worthless bastard will come home drunk everynight smelling like tuna." Or something like that.
P.S. - MERCS was the bomb!
i played mercs on sega genesis til my thumbs bled. it was the shit and i think bass is on to something. we could teach them how to play mercs for sega genesis, shit, i'd volunteer to be an instructor.
