G-Funk is pretty much my favorite genre of hip hop. Let's go over a few classics.
The Chronic (1992) - Seminal G-Funk. Sure, Dre had given us hints of what was to come while he was still in N.W.A., but the tracks on this record codified the genre. It had all the essential elements: synths, whining portamento, P-funk samples, and hedonistic-as-hell lyrics, delivered in the infamous lazy drawl.

Beautiful breakdown. You could teach a college course on this subject.
Ain't nothin' but a G thang.
I disagree on the addition of the full Warren G album to this list. While he is sweet out of his mind, I'm not sure that he reaches the elite status of Dre, Pac, or the D O double G.
Clemens is starting tonight for the 'Stros and no post? I hope he gets rocked and fades into obscurity. Greedy prick.
For being white at least from the waiste up, I'm proud to own each of those CD's. So G's up, ho's down while you motha fucka's bounce to this!
fair enough frankie, but you gotta admit that... it's kinda easy when you listen to the g'd up sound, pioneer speakers bumpin as i smoke on the pound
First i would like to support warren G in the lineage, second i would like to put out the idea that rap has barely evolved since then, and lastly i would like say you should have atleast made mention of Ice Cube, who involved the this rising west coast scene after NWA.
P-funk forever!
Yeah, I was tortured over whether or not to include Cube. Well, maybe not tortured, but I may have lost some sleep over it.
